Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) are inviting applications for Consultants in Intensive Care to join our expanding team. The successful applicants will be based at the Royal Cornwall Hospital and with colleagues willMaintain the highest clinical standards in the management of critically ill patients.
To share, with colleagues, responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Intensive Care Unit and referrals to the Intensive Care Unit and Critical Care Outreach Service.
You will assist in the teaching and training of intensive care medicine residents and medical students from the University of Exeter Medical School (UEMS)and actively participate in continuing medical education (CME)
Attend and contribute to Trust, Care Group and Departmental meetings, participate in departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit and fulfil duties of the weekly timetable including any out-of-hours responsibilities.
Main duties of the job
Provision, with Consultant colleagues, of a service to the Royal Cornwall Hospitals' NHS Trust, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department.
Out-of-hours responsibilities, including participation in the Consultant on-call rota (duties range from 1:12 to 1:14).
Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.
Any responsibility that relates to a special interest.
Professional supervision of intensive care medicine Residents.
Responsibilities for carrying out teaching.
Participating in medical audit, the Trust's Clinical Governance processes, and in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Involvement in research (where applicable).
