Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse - Wheal Coates
An opportunity has arisen for a full-time permanent position on Wheal Coates as a Band 6 Deputy Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.
We are looking for someone who can lead, motivate and enthuse the team to deliver high quality care in what can sometimes be a very busy environment.
You will gain numerous skills whilst working on the unit, managing the care of the acute surgical patients. High priority is creating bed flow between the lounge, emergency department and the ward. Close communication with the ward, bed managers, discharge co-ordinators, therapists and doctors, ensuring the safety of the patient at all times.
Main duties of the job
To provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team and ensure the provision of high quality nursing care to patients and carers.
To act as a role model and expert clinical practitioner
To assist in the safe, effective and efficient management of the department within allocated resources
To promote a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patientcare through research and evidence based practice
The deputy ward sister/charge nurse will have delegated responsibility for the running of the unit in the absence of the ward sister in the following areas such as staff recruitment and retention, delivery of care plans and risk assessments, medication management and the development of the service. Included in this role will be management and administration functions to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the unit.
