Zero Hours Contract

Applicants will need to have a minimum of six months experience of working as a healthcare support worker in an acute healthcare setting or equivalent for this role.

Main duties of the job

The Kernowflex Healthcare Assistant works as part of the ward/department team under the supervision of registered nurses and midwives and:

o To assist in the delivery of clinical care, planned and assessed by the Registered Nurses

o To carry out care / other duties under indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Senior Health Care Assistant

o Support care on a day-to-day basis for all patients in the clinical area in a manner sensitive to the individual patient needs and wishes, acknowledging their rights and beliefs at all times

o Contribute to resource management within the clinical area

All Healthcare Assistants are expected to complete the following activities and achieve the required level of competence within a timescale agreed with their manager and with reference to RCHT HCA Development Strategy:

- attendance at the HCA Induction Programme

- attend the mandatory development study days

- participate in the annual HCA update

- complete the appropriate Qualifications & Credit Framework (QCF) training

Key working relationships include all members of the multi-professional team, including nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and support workers.
