Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join the team in the Gynaecology outpatient's department. We are looking foran enthusiastic individual who is keen to work in a busy environment and enjoys the challenges of day-to-day variability from assisting in clinics to chaperoning for minor procedures within an outpatient setting. An interest in Women's health is essential.

This is a part time post working 24 hours per week

Main duties of the job

To establish a rapport with the patient and relatives and an awareness of the individual patient needs, ensuring these are communicated to the Registered nurses.

To have full understanding of the impact of the patient's condition on their hygiene, nutritional and mobility abilities and needs.

To assist patients, where necessary by the use of appropriate aids/appliance, to achieve physical comfort. This will involve the safe moving and handling of patients to varying degrees dependant on their condition and care needs.

To have full understanding of the patients' gynaecological needs and show awareness and sensitivity to their needs.

Carry out observations and recording of patient's vital signs in recognition of own knowledge and skill/competence, and in accordance with local protocols. Report any recordings outside of agreed parameters to a Registered Nurse in addition to making a written record on both the observation chart and in Patient Profile and general condition.

To identify the potential for stress and to support patients and relatives in the care environment by demonstrating empathy and understanding.

To provide practical and emotional support to patients and relatives who are anxious/upset.

Whilst maintaining a professional attitude at all times, develop sound interpersonal relationships with patients and colleagues.
