Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly and enthusiastic team.The Eye Unit is situated on the ground floor of the tower block, providing high quality services to patients in all clinical ophthalmic areas.To include outpatients, casualty, pre and post-surgery assessment clinics, minor operations, glaucoma service and WARM service. These clinics are held currently over the 3 Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust sites.Come and join the staff that is highly skilled, motivated and focused on delivering and developing ophthalmic care.These posts are available in both part-time and full time hours, to be decided at interview

Main duties of the job

To contribute to the delivery of excellent care and the efficient running of ophthalmic c clinics by assisting nursing and clinical staff, and to deliver care in a manner sensitive to the individual patients needs and wishes, acknowledging and respecting their confidentiality, rights and beliefs at all times.

To assist and support professional practitioners and patients during clinical treatment and procedures.

To undertake a co-ordinator role within clinics and support colleagues.

To establish a rapport with the patient and relatives and an awareness of the individual patient needs, ensuring these are communicated to the Registered nurse.

To identify the potential for stress and to support patients in the care environment by demonstrating empathy and understanding.

Whilst maintaining a professional attitude at all times, develop sound interpersonal relationships with patients and colleagues.
