Job summary

The Royal Cornwall Hospital NHS Trust (RCHT) is the main acute healthcare provider for the population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, providing a full range of services accessed by more than 600,000 people a year. The Clinical Imaging service is county wide, offering patient's high quality diagnostics in their local hospital or at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, St Michaels Hospital and West Cornwall Hospital.

Bodmin Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) (Primary site) & RCHT imaging is looking for motivated and dynamic Imaging assisants with preferably with experience in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) with good communication skills and a highly developed sense of patient care to join our friendly and progressive team.The MRI department currently has 3 Philips 1.5T MRI scanners with an additional new MRI service to be delivered at Bodmin CDC from June 2024

Main duties of the job

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our team as a Clinical Imaging Support Worker within Clinical Imaging at Royal Cornwall Hospital. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the Cross Section Imaging team in delivering high standards of care for patients within MRI scanning.

The ideal candidate will be able to work flexibly, which will include working long days and weekends. You will be given opportunities to develop the skills required for this interesting and varied role.

Previous experience of working within Clinical Imaging is also desirable, although not essential. NVQ level 3 or equivalent is required for this role, although we would welcome candidates with or without this qualification to apply,

Band 2 - Band 3 depending on experience.

Job responsibilities

Work at all times within the Trust policies and statutory legislation including emergency resuscitation and manual handling procedures.

Maintain confidentiality of all information obtained through professional attendance on patients or through clinical access.

Acquire knowledge of Trust Policies on infection control, disposal of sharps and clinical waste, manual handling and control of substances hazardous to health.

Use own knowledge and skills to ensure safety of oneself and others through training and adherence to protocols.

Be able to use a keyboard and have basic IT skills (e.g. e-mail)

Be able to use radiology systems (e.g. CRIS/PACS) to document clinical care, book patients in or amend appointments.

Substantial experience of delivering patient care within an imaging department.

Attained or working towards level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Health Care or equivalent

Be active in enhancing own knowledge base, the post holder is expected to undertake continual development including venepuncture and cannulation training.
