Job summary
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery treats all aspects of patients within this specialty and this post is an integral part of this. A population of approximately 500,000 is covered by the service leading to a varied and busy department workload. The specialty works closely with the adjacent departments of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Dermatology and Ophthalmology and shares the department with an active Orthodontic Unit.
- The provision with colleagues of a service to the Royal Cornwall Hospitals' NHS Trust, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department.
- Out-of-hours responsibilities, including participation in the respective on-call rota where
Main duties of the job
Specific Duties
- Management and treatment of patients encompassing full scope of practice in Oral surgery and Oral and Maxillofacial surgery through clinics, operating lists including trauma and on call duties.
- Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery cases.
- To share with colleagues' responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. This includes on call duties.
- To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME/CPD).
- To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit.
- To attend meetings as
- Fulfill duties of weekly timetable including any out-of-hours responsibilities (where applicable).
