An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the existing Patient and Family Experience Team in overseeing all patient related EDI matters. You should have a passion for delivering a high quality service and be dedicated to driving changes which improve the experience of the care and services for patients and service users.
The main purpose of this post is to support and project manage the objectives and priorities for patients, ensuring that the views of under-represented groups are included in decision making processes and practices through our Patient Leader Programme. The post-holder will report to the Patient Experience Manager and will also be supported by the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team for staff, to ensure a coordinated approach to delivering the Trust's wider diversity, equality and inclusion strategy.
You will be a creative and dynamic individual, who likes rising to challenges but is able to think calmly and rationally under pressure with the ability to use your own initiative, making reasoned decisions and escalating issues appropriately. You will have well developed IT skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and various social media platforms, and be comfortable and competent using and understanding different technical systems.
You will be innovative, and a confident and clear communicator with good negotiation and customer service skills.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team in a brand new capacity, to improve the experience of patients at RCHT through championing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion matters throughout the Trust and informing positive change. The post holder will support the Patient Experience Manager in ensuring that the Trust responds appropriately and effectively to the requirements of patients in relation to equality and human rights matters. This includes ensuring the Trust meets all requirements identified within the European and UK equality and human rights legislative framework and those identified by any bodies setting NHS based standards and targets.
The postholder will support the Trust in being compliant with national guidance and best practice for patient inclusion, by developing and implementing effective patient inclusion initiatives, including contributing to the delivery of the Trust's strategy.
The postholder will engage with patients and patient groups, and oversee the administration of the Patient Leader Programme, ensuring that the patient's voice is at the heart of everything that we do.
The post-holder will be required to work both independently and as part of a team and be flexible to the needs of the overall service.

- To facilitate the sharing of best practice and information through effective evidence gathering and updates to key stakeholders.
- To represent the Trust on national and local forums and other such Equality & Diversity and Inclusion activities on behalf of the Patient Experience Manager where required.
- Work with the EDI team (workforce) to ensure that Equality, Diversity and Inclusion objectives are coordinated and deliver against the wider EDI strategy.
- Attend relevant steering groups and committee meetings to present or inform on aspects of patient related EDI issues.
