Job summary

We are looking for a Finance Apprentice to join us in making a difference to health services in Cornwall.

This is a full time post of 37.5 hours a week. A proportion of time will be spent studying towards an Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification.

During your contract you will rotate around different sections within the department, providing a solid foundation upon which to develop your finance career.

The finance department has a friendly and supportive culture with a hybrid working model. As a new starter you will mostly be office based for the first three months to ensure effective support and training as you settle in. However, this timescale will be dependent on the role and your circumstances.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to develop the skills to provide comprehensive and effective finance administration; to support a smooth and efficient service.

You will be required to work as part of a team, communicating effectively and courteously with a wide range of internal/external personnel.

Job description

Job responsibilities

1. To support staff in the team and liaise with other relevant departments.

2. Input, retrieve and collect data and information using the finance system.

3. To deal with enquiries both in person and on the telephone, from hospital staff in a polite and helpful manner and refer these as appropriate.

4. To undertake general office duties such as sorting the post, filing, emails, typing, photocopying and scanning, as required.

5. To support the team in the delivery of finance training events and workshops.

6. To maintain confidentiality at all times.

7. To achieve the relevant Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification within the specified time frame.

8. Attend all of the training sessions for the programme, whenever necessary and undertake any necessary written work at home during the length of the course.

9. To gain experience of the duties performed across the different rotation teams.

10.To act as an ambassador for Apprenticeships and participate in events.

11. Any other duties as deemed appropriate by senior staff.
