Healthcare Assistant (Critical Care)

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Critical Care Assistants to join our multi-disciplinary ICCU / ICU team working across South Tyneside and Sunderland sites.

You will be required to work within the Critical Care units and wider MDT to assist in the delivery of care for both High Dependency and Intensive Care patients.

The Critical Care Assistant role offers variation in duties, all of which are vital to ensuring the smooth running of the Unit. These duties range from assisting the Registered Nurse with patient personal care, contributing to the cleanliness of the clinical area, stock control, and maintenance and checking of the highly-specialist equipment used.

Main duties of the job

Assist the registered practitioner in providing high-quality compassionate care and assistance to patients / relatives and their carers appropriate to their needs.

To assist the registered practitioner in providing high-quality compassionate care to the critically-ill adult.

Responsible for carrying-out tasks as delegated by the registered critical care practitioner who has overall accountability for delegating care.

To complete the Healthcare Certificate and in-house Critical Care Assistant competencies.

To ensure clinical areas within Critical Care are cleaned thoroughly and well-stocked.

To assist the Ward Manager to maintain adequate stock control and maintenance of specialist equipment.
