An opportunity has
arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated members of critical care staff to join
the Critical Care Outreach Team at South Tyneside and Sunderland Foundation
Trust.
The post holder will
deliver a nurse led critical care outreach service, to support and improve
services for level 1 level 2 patients on the ward, who are at risk of
deteriorating.
They will provide
highly specialised interventions and support with appropriate physical
assessment, observation and treatment of acutely / critically ill patients.
They will contribute to the developments of the CCOT service and education
throughout Trust when required.
Key
Requirements: Critical Care nurse with significant band 6
critical care experience.
Hours
per week: 24 hours per week. Must be able to work day and night duty
including public holidays and weekends.
Main duties of the job
The post
holder will be required to provide high quality nursing care to patients at
ward level and within critical care throughout the Trust. They will be required
to support and improve services for patients at risk of deterioration, and
those who may need escalation to a higher level of care. The post holder will
be required to provide highly specialised interventions and support with the
appropriate physical assessment, observation and treatment for acutely unwell
patients, and support those stepping down from a higher level of care. The post
holder will need to have significant critical care experience at a senior
level.
The CCOT
service provides 24/7 cover to both Sunderland and South Tyneside sites, so
rotation is required. The post also requires the applicant to be able to work a
range of shifts including night duties, weekends and bank holidays.

- Registered Nurse.
- Degree in nursing studies or other relevant clinical degree (UK equivalent).
- Mentorship certificate/ Practice Assessor training or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- History Taking / Clinical skills accreditation.
- Completion of, National Competency Framework for Registered Nurses in Adult Critical Care Steps 1, 2 & 3 or equivalent.
- Post-Qualification Critical Care Course which meets the requirements of the National Standards for Adult Critical Care Nurse Education.
