Job summary

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, committed and motivated Registered Nurse with excellent communication skills to join our Endoscopy nursing team. The successful candidate will support both the Unit Managers and Junior Sisters to provide patient centered, evidence-based care; maintain high care delivery standards and efficient, safe management of patients within our busy Endoscopy Units.

You will have the ability to work within a multi professional team, contributing towards developments in nursing within the service. You will be joining a highly skilled and committed team who will give their full support to your development. Educational support for the role exists both in house and externally.

The vacancy base site will be Sunderland Royal; however, the successful candidate will be required to work cross site as/when required.

Main duties of the job

You will support patients undergoing endoscopic procedures, including pre assessment, admission, recovery and discharge skills, you will be supported to achieve competencies relating to this specialised role as well as being a member of the Endoscopy Registered Nurse on call, out of hours Rota for Emergency upper gastrointestinal bleeds.

The ideal candidate should be a Registered Nurse with appropriate skills, experience, personal qualities and attitude. Desirably, the candidate will have successfully completed a Mentorship training programme and have experience of working in an Endoscopy Unit

The base site will be South Tyneside, however cross site working will be an expectation. Shift patterns are Monday to Friday with some evening and weekend shifts as required, you will also take part in an out of hours on call.
