An opportunity has arisen for flexible registered nurses to join our multi-disciplinary critical care team working across South Tyneside and Sunderland sites. You will be required to work as a named nurse for both high dependency (Level 2) and Intensive care (Level 3) patients. You will also be required to mentor students and junior staff with appropriate training.

Key Requirements: Registered Nurse with experience in critical care would be an advantage. This is not essential as we offer accredited in-house training, with an established nationally-recognised competency programme.

Hours per week: 37.5 hours per week, but would consider part-time. Must be able to work day and night duty including public holidays and weekends.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to provide high-quality nursing care to both Level 3 and Level 2 patients within the Critical Care units at South Tyneside and Sunderland Foundation Trust.

As a registered nurse you would act as a named nurse for both Level 2 & Level 3 ICCU patients and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care given. You would be expected to demonstrate proficiency and competence in the delivery of care to a critically-ill patient and be able to perform all aspects of critical care nursing including interpretation of some clinical data in an unsupervised capacity.

You would be required to complete the National Critical Care competency programme, steps 1-3 and complete the associated DOP assessments. A requirement of the role is to successfully complete a post-graduate education program at Level 6-7 equivalent to 60 CAT points.
