Job summary
Due to a retirement, we are excited to recruit a new member to our
intensive care and acute medicine consultant teams. The post offers opportunities to work at the
interface between these areas and to improve patient experience and outcomes. As the first team member to work in both of
these clinical areas, this is an exciting opportunity to review and improve
patient pathways and experience. The successful candidate will be on the
specialist register for acute AND general AND intensive care medicine, or is
expected to be so within 6 months of appointment.
Clinical work will be delivered between two sites; Sunderland
Royal and South Tyneside Hospitals. Both
have integrated critical care units and provide level 3 care (18 and 6 beds
respectively) and receive an unselected medical take.
Main duties of the job
The posts will be based at Sunderland Royal Hospital, but the
postholder will work (including out of hours) both on this site and at South
Tyneside District Hospital. Out of hours
work will be based in critical care; DCC PAs are therefore more heavily
weighted to this area.
An exciting aspect of the role will be to lead both areas in
digital transformation; the Trust has a track record of success and ambition in
this area. Experience of innovation and
leadership engagement in digital healthcare is therefore required. Further
detail about the post and indicative job plan can be found in the job
description.
Research and education are also significant departmental
activities; the postholder would be expected to be active in both of these
areas.
