Job summary

We are looking to recruit a part time, permanent member of staff to our PREP (Perioperative Risk Evaluation & Preparation) administrative team, to rotate shifts between Sunderland Royal Hospital & South Tyneside Hospital.

The post holder will be one of a small team of administrative support staff, who will provide essential administrative functions, whilst liaising with clinical, nursing, administrative staff, patients, and the general public. The service supports all surgical Directorates throughout the Trust and you would be expected to carry out a variety of administrative tasks to allow you to support the referring clinical and administrative teams.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate that they have the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels by telephone and in person. Excellent organisational skills and time management are also integral to the role. The ability to prioritise workloads is also essential.

You should have excellent keyboard skills and a working knowledge of IT systems.

Main duties of the job

To provide clerical and administrative duties, supporting the provision of an efficient and effective service to the PREP/Pre Assessment Department, and all service users throughout the Trust.

To greet patients, registering their details, to take phone calls, deal with queries, signpost or forward calls as required.

To contribute to effective communication links between all members of the PREP/Pre Assessment Department, and the Surgical Directorates.

Maintain accurate electronic information systems, with previous experience of Meditech Version 6 being desirable.

At times you may be expected to work across sites, Trust Wide to support the needs to of the PREP/Pre Assessment service.

The hours of this role are Monday to Sunday 08:00 20:00, however the initial hours to work are Monday but this shift can be subject to change between the hours of 08:00 17:00, Monday to Friday
