A rare opportunity has therefore arisen for a Ward Manager
at Sunderland Eye Infirmary. The Haygarth
Ward Manager has 24/7 responsibility for an 18 bedded Adult and 4 bedded
Paediatric ward. Ward staff also provide
Adult and Paediatric Pre-Operative assessment clinics Monday-Friday. Staff care
for both emergency and elective medical and surgical patients.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for a team of around 25 staff who
rotate to ensure a 24 hour 7 day a week service. Ward Manager shifts also cover
the out of hours senior nurse role in the absence of the Directorate Matron, this
will include working weekends and bank holidays.
Good communication and organisational skills are essential
for this role.
It will be your responsibility to ensure all staff maintain
the skills and knowledge required to provide a high standard of patient care
We
are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic Registered Adult
Nurse who has extensive post registration experience, some of which will be at
band 6 level within Ophthalmology. The successful candidate will have the
exciting opportunity in the future to manage the purpose-built Inpatient ward,
Ambulatory care and DOSA/Inpatient ward Pre-assessment department in the new state-of-the-art
Sunderland Eye Hospital situated in Sunderland city centre which is
expected to open in 2025.
