Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Renal Ambulatory Care team at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Trust based in Sunderland Royal Hospital. You will work alongside experienced renal staff to provide safe effective clinic care for renal patients. The department is looking to recruit a dynamic and forward-thinking Health Care Assistant. Renal experience is desirable but not essential for this role. The successful candidate will be fully trained in all aspects of the job with competency-based assessments and full mentor support. The Renal Ambulatory team welcome applications from people with vision, drive, compassion and understanding. This is currently a 5-day service running from Monday to Friday from 08:00 18:00.
Main duties of the job
Supporting qualified healthcare professionals in delivering patient care and carrying out a range of delegated clinical and administrative duties.The role often includes direct patient care, such as assisting with mobility, and monitoring vital signs, as well as administrative tasks like scheduling appointments and maintaining records.Staff also play a crucial role in communicating with patients, their families, and other healthcare team members.
To carry out a range of clinical duties with minimal / no supervision,triaging patients on arrival to unit, including for example, blood pressure monitoring, oxygen saturation levels, body temperature, pulse rate and respiration rate, ECG, glucose monitoring, phlebotomy, blood collection and testing of urine samples including dipstick, collection of faecal samples.
Healthcare Assistant (HCA) are trained to attach monitoring device for 24-hour blood pressure (BP) monitoring and will be responsible for taking recordings as per clinicians instructions.
