Job summary
Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Neurologist Post across South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. The Post is offered on a 10 PA basis, however LTFT applications will be considered. You will have CCT or equivalent and be on the GMCs Specialist Register for Neurology when you take-up the Post (Applications are welcome from those within six-nine months of their CCT date).
We are seeking a supportive individual who possesses strong leadership and communication skills to join our growing team in developing comprehensive neurology services for our patients. You will join a team of seven consultant neurologists and a wider team of doctors in training, specialist nurses, AHPs and PAMs.
Main duties of the job
The STSFT Neurology service provides sub-speciality care across a range of clinical pathways including Parkinsons Disease, Headache, MS, Epilepsy and Neuro-Ophthalmology as well as General Neurology. We also deliver an in-house Neurophysiology service and Neurological Rehabilitation service based on the Sunderland site. Neuroradiology and Neuropathology services are provided in our neighbouring Regional Neurosciences Centres
You will primarily be based at the Sunderland Royal Hospital site but will be expected to regularly deliver activity across the local geography required to meet the needs of the Service.

- Have received further specialty training in Neurology and General Medicine to a level equivalent to Calman Level III.
- Have obtained a higher Degree by thesis (MD, MCh, MSc).
