This is an exciting opportunity to join our excellent team on our busy ward at Sunderland Royal Hospital. We are looking for a full time Ward Clerk to work 37.5 hours per week working over 5 days (Monday - Friday) covering from 08:00-16:00 each day. The successful candidate must be self motivated and enthusiastic. Previous experience in a customer care role would be advantageous, as would previous experience in a health care setting. Ward E50 is a 27 bedded ward within general medicine. The successful applicant would help with clerical and admin work, and maintain professional and effective communication with complex patient and families. You will be joining a committed forward-thinking team where you can make a significant contribution to maintain safe and effective care to our patients in Ward E50. In this role, you will work closely with nursing team to ensure patient experience, patient safety providing high standards of patient care. The right candidate will have effective communication skills and demonstrate effective organisation skills to be able to manage and prioritise workload.

Main duties of the job

We require a motivated individual with strong communication skills to join our team. The role is to support the Multidisciplinary team and the ward manager in areas of administration. You will be joining experienced, committed, and friendly team members. To be successful in this role you should have good communication skills, knowledge of customer care and experience working on computers with strong keyboard skills.

To ensure visibility by working from the nurses station, answering telephone calls, resolving enquiries, taking messages, and redirecting callers as appropriate.

To effectively communicate with GPs, Consultants, the Multidisciplinary team and Ward Manager via emails and telephone as per hospital policy.

To be able to prioritise workload and time management.
