Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Phoenix Unit Team at South Tyneside andSunderland NHS Foundation Trust. Phoenix Unit - Sunderland site. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced administration assistant to join our team and support the delivery of high quality safe Oncology and haematology care.
You will be a first point of contact for telephone enquiries from patients/carers and will be responsible for booking appointments for new patients as well as follow up care, this will cover both South Tyneside and Sunderland Sites. The right candidate will have strong communication skills. You will be fullysupported to ensure you develop the skills required for the post.

Main duties of the job
You will need to have excellent communication skills and be confident at communicatingwith patients who are receiving systemic anti-cancer treatment. You will need to be confident in communicating with all members of the multi-disciplinary team at all levels. Respond to frequent enquiries from patients, carers and NHS staff using verbal and written communication. Deal with queries in a confidential, sensitive manner. Be able to navigate around the trusts IT systems though training will be provided. Managing patient appointments across both SACT units in South Tyneside and Sunderland.
This will include making contact with new patients and arranging/re-arranging appointments for established patients.
