Job summary
The Directorate of Trauma and Orthopaedics are innovative
and forward thinking in our approach to delivering patient care. This is an
exciting time for us as we look to improve a number of pathways to enhance
patient care and experience.
We therefore have an opportunity recruit a full time Trauma
Coordinator to our Directorate where you will become part of our team working
with emergency orthopaedic inpatient and outpatients and have the opportunity
to develop a service as part of a multidisciplinary team.
You will be an experienced team member with
orthopaedic knowledge and skills and will work closely with consultants and
clinical teams across departments. You will
assist in the co-ordination of trauma patients, ensuring the delivery of consistent
high-quality care through planning and co-ordinating care for trauma patients
presenting as both inpatients and outpatients.
This role demands excellent
communication and organisational skills as well as enthusiasm to develop your
own clinical practice. If you are pro-active, forward thinking, and able
to problem solve and work in innovative ways, this role may be for you.

Main duties of the job
The Trauma Coordinator is expected to:
To provide Trust wide clinical leadership in
the management of emergency Orthopaedic patients.
To coordinate activity within the trust
liaising with other health care professionals to ensure patients are managed
effectively and efficiently through the Orthopaedic emergency pathway.
To improve the scheduling of surgery, reduce
cancelled operations and reduce pre-operative fasting
To coordinate the delivery and development of
the specialist service through the use of effective evidence based practice in
line with agreed national standards for patient safety and monitoring.
To contribute to the organisation of
multidisciplinary, patient centred care.
To be accountable for the planning and delivery
of safe, effective and compassionate patient care in relation to dedicated
pathways of care, working as an autonomous practitioner within the specialism.
To provide specialist clinical advice and
support to patients and clinical staff within the Trust on the assessment,
management and care of patients within the specialist area.
