The Directorate of Trauma and Orthopaedics is dynamic and forward thinking in our approach to delivering patient care. This is an exciting time for us as we look to improve several pathways to enhance patient care and experience.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a trainee plaster technician to join our team of Plaster Room Technicians, who work within our busy and vibrant Orthopaedic department.

Our Plaster Services Team are responsible for the casting, splinting and bracing needs of all our patients at STSFT, whilst also working closely with patients to inform and educate them along their road to recovery.

The trainee Orthopaedic Plaster technician will actively work alongside other practitioners in the Orthopaedic team to provide a high quality, efficient and effective orthopaedic and trauma care to patients in the Plaster Room, Theatres, and the Emergency Department.

The team see a wide variety of patients, which include outpatient clinics, inpatient wards and theatres, treating both adult and paediatric patients. We are currently looking to a recruit a trainee Orthopaedic technicians band 2 with progression to Band 5 on completion of the British Orthopaedic Casting certificate.

Main duties of the job

Whilst previous experience in a care setting maybe beneficial it is not essential as we will offer the successful applicant an in-house tailored training programme with the attendance of a 5 week residential course or a 6 month day course to complete your training.

The successful candidate will be moved to band 5 after 2 years, subject to completing the BOA certificate.
