The Directorate of Trauma and Orthopaedics is dynamic and

patient care and overall experience.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an
orthopaedic plaster technician to join our Plaster Room team, who work within
our busy and vibrant Orthopaedic department.
Our Plaster Services Team are responsible for the casting, removing k- wires,
dressing wounds, splinting and bracing needs of all our patients at STSFT,
whilst also working closely with patients to inform and educate them along
their road to recovery. Full training will be provided if required in any of
these areas.
The Orthopaedic Plaster technician will
actively work alongside other practitioners in the Orthopaedic team to provide
a high quality, efficient and effective orthopaedic and trauma care to patients
in the Plaster Room, Theatres, and the Emergency Department.
The Orthopaedic Plaster technicians play a
vital role in the applying of specialised casting, including the application of
hip spicas, serial and ponsetti casting and application of TCCs.
The Orthopaedic Plaster technician see a wide
variety of patients, which include outpatient clinics, inpatient wards and
theatres, treating both adult and paediatric patients and podiatry patients.
Main duties of the job
We are currently
looking to a recruit an Orthopaedic technician band 5 who holds a British
Orthopaedic casting certificate or the equivalent.
The Orthopaedic Plaster Technician position is advertised
as full time; however, part time hours will also be considered.
The Orthopaedic Plaster technician candidate will also be
expected to provide cross site cover, on occasions we also provide bank holiday
cover. The successful candidate will be
expected to part take in the covering of this service on a fair rota basis.
As
a member of a busy Plaster service within the Orthopaedic Directorate the post
holder will be expected to follow directions/instructions from the Orthopaedic
technicians and participate in individual patient treatments.
To
partake in the provision of an Orthopaedic and Technical service of the highest
possible standard, to the Trauma and Orthopaedic department, and other
departments of the Trust.
