Job summary
An
opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialist Audiology Practitioner to join
our enthusiastic and future-focussed team. Clinically, the focus of this role
will be supporting the tinnitus and sound sensitivity service and the vestibular
diagnostic and rehabilitation service, as well as all other aspects of adult
audiology. The post holder will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide
high-quality patient care.
There
will also be opportunities to contribute to research initiatives and lead
service development across the adult service, particularly supporting service
quality. You must be able to demonstrate proficient team working, as well as a
high standard of clinical and communication skills. You will need to develop
good working relationships and liaise effectively with a wide range of
clinicians, patients and families.
Main duties of the job
South
Tyneside and Sunderland Audiology Service provides a district level adult
rehabilitation service and a sub-regional level service (including Tier 3
paediatric assessment & rehabilitation and diagnostic audiology). There are
33 staff in the department, including 23 Healthcare Scientists, up to 2 Trainee
Clinical Scientists/Audiologists, 1 Audiology Assistant and 5 Admin &
Clerical Support. Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Contributing
to the departments DM01 position by leading diagnostic appointments within the
adult service

Performing tinnitus therapy and other adult rehabilitation, delivering tailored
management plans

Taking a lead role in the development of a service for adults with
severe-profound hearing loss

Leading development and service improvement initiatives in the adult audiology
stream

Engaging in research, training and quality improvement initiatives

Essential
- MSc in Clinical Audiology or equivalent (e.g. BSc Clinical Physiology + Study at M-Level)
- BAA HTS competency (or equivalent) in at least 1 relevant area.
- CCC competency (or equivalent) (e.g. BAA Part 1 & II examination, PTP Clinical Log Book).
- Registration with the RCCP/AHCS/HCPC as appropriate.
Desirable
- ILM Management or leadership qualification or equivalent.
Physical skills

- Ability to travel between hospital sites using own transport, as required.
