An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly integrated
Sexual Health Services team, based in Chester Lodge, Sunderland. As a team we actively promote
a high level of patient care and respect within the team. We are looking for an enthusiastic
person with excellent communication skills to provide support to our clinical team. Our
services include screening and treatment of sexually transmitted infections including HIV, and we
offer all methods of contraception and support the Termination of Pregnancy service.
All relevant training will be provided to the post holder.
To comply with the Young Worker regulations applicantsmust be aged 18 or overto
be able to meet shift working requirements on any day of the week
Main duties of the job
It is a condition of employment that all Healthcare Assistants
must attend and complete the Care Certificate and achieve their competencies
within 14 weeks of commencing in post.
Progression to Band 3 is on successful completion of the Care
Certificate and a period of consolidated learning.
The
main duties of the role include assisting registered clinicians in all aspects
of Sexual Health Care.
Which include intimate examinations, assisting in procedures and undertaking
health care
assistant
led clinics. The post holder will also facilitate and manage the sexual health
online testing
offering.

should be enthusiastic, open minded and non-judgemental. You will also need to
be
comfortable
working in a highly confidential environment.

To assist the registered practitioner (or other healthcare practitioners) within theSexual Health Service in providing high quality compassionate patient care andassistance to patients/relatives and their carers appropriate to their needs.
Assist clinicians in procedures such as intrauterine device insertions, sub dermalimplant insertions and removals.
Undertake HCA led clinics for patients who require asymptomatic sexual healthscreening.
Manage the online Sexual Health Screening offering.
Maintain patients privacy and dignity at all times.
Responsible for carrying out tasks as delegated by the registered practitioner whohas overall accountability for delegating care.
Continue to develop and maintain competencies to support high quality safe care.
Be an effective part of the multi-disciplinary team contributing to the departmentalobjectives.
