Job summary

We are seeking to recruit a part-time (25 hours per week) Clinical Psychologist to join our highly-motivated MTD team of Doctors, Nurses, Dietitians and support staff in providing care to children with diabetes in our services based in the localities of Sunderland and South Tyneside. Working as a member of the MDT you will be working in hospital-based clinics in the two localities and will also provide some outreach work into schools or family homes undertaking psychological assessments including management and treatment for children as required.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for providing a specialist psychological role within the South Tyneside and Sunderland Children and Young Peoples Diabetes Service and will be part of an MDT which operates from two base sites in Sunderland and South Tyneside. The Service provides comprehensive care to approximately 320 children and young people (age 0-19 years) with diabetes. This will involve providing a lead role within the Service. You will also provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy, as well as clinical supervision, advice, and consultation to colleagues on psychological aspects of assessment, formulation, care and treatment.

  • Post-graduate therapy qualification i.e. CBT/CAT. Diploma or equivalent relevant to palliative care.
  • Evidence of continued professional development as required by HCPC.
  • HCPC registered as a Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Completed training course in clinical supervision.
