Job summary

We are currently in the position to recruit full time Health Care Assistants within emergency Department based primarily at south Tyneside You will be a valued part of a team providing care over the 24 hour period supporting nursing and medical staff patients and carers in the delivery of emergency and essential patient care.

The successful candidates will be working as part of our integrated Emergency Care team to work within this strong, multi-professional team to deliver our services, we are constantly looking at developing new ways of working and streamlining care for our patients helping us to continue to meet the ever changing challenges of all aspects of Emergency Care.

Main duties of the job

You will participate as a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team in the delivery of holistic care

.You will need:

Experience in a hospital within the Emergency care department

Experience of recording information in a clinical / IT system ideally Meditech

Good communication skills

  • Maths and English at level 1 or above (GCSE A E or equivalent).

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 qualification in health and social care / customer care or equivalent in any subject.

Physical Skills

Essential

  • Ability to assist patients to move, as per Trust Moving and Handling Policy.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a caring role within emergency care.

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to communicate messages and instructions accurately to colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate good customer care skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the Multidisciplinary team, patients, carers and visitors.
  • Basic skills of empathy and reassurance.
  • Basic keyboard and IT skills.
  • Willingness to complete Competency Based Assessments and a Portfolio of evidence, in order to achieve the Care Certificate and any other training related to this role.
