Job summary

We are seeking to recruit enthusiastic, versatile, highly motivated, hardworking and compassionate radiographers to join our vibrant and fast paced Radiology teams within South Tyneside and Sunderland Foundation Trust.

As a Band 6 radiographer you will be joining our friendly, flexible team to provide a high quality, responsive diagnostic service delivering excellent patient care in line with the Trust core values.

The department is a recognised student training centre for several universities-based programs and pro-actively supports CPD activities.

Currently we have vacancies within Plain Film team which will include supporting a 7 day/24-hour Radiology service on a rota basis.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Radiographer you will gain valuable experience in all aspect of general radiography including ED, Orthopedics, Fluoroscopy, Theatre, and Peripheral Site working. Within this post you will also play an integral role when allocated as Lead Radiographer responsible in day to day running of Plain Film - managing workflow and staff.

You should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and understand the importance of following standard operating policies and procedures of work, with a commitment to provide a high standard of service delivery and patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You will be required to supervise and support radiographers, imaging assistants, student radiographers, assistant practitioners and radiographer apprentices offering advice and supervision to less experienced staff.

This post would be suitable for experienced Radiographers wishing to develop their skills in a fast dynamic department which advocates advanced practice and expansion of clinical skills and are looking to consolidate their supervisory experience in a more senior post.

Hours are full-time, 37.5 hrs. per week, with an out of hours commitment.

The department is currently in the process of developing a shift system for Plain Film out of hours /weekend cover.
