Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Sunderland to provide a specialist dietetic Post for the assessment, management and treatment for patients post two years bariatric surgery.

We are looking for a committed dietitian with an interest in bariatrics. This is a relatively new and an innovative Post with a real opportunity to make a difference and develop a primary care-led dietitian service. As a Primary Care Network Dietitian, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team across Sunderland.

You will be responsible for feeding-back the project results to the Primary Care Network regarding outcome measures both quantitative and qualitative

You will be employed as part of Sunderland and South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust and have access to support from Dietetic Colleagues and the wider bariatric team, and Clinical Supervision.

This really is a chance to be innovative and make a difference to bariatric patients beyond two-year follow-up in ensuring they are monitored and reduce GP interventions.

Our Dietetic Department of more than 55 staff is managed as one team, but is structured into smaller teams led by Senior Specialist Dietitians. We are actively involved in the training of Trainee Dietitians and offer A, B and C placements.

The Trust has one on-site gym and plus a Training and Education Centre.

Main duties of the job

The Team has a fantastic reputation regionally, nationally and internationally. You will be encouraged to attend conferences in addition to networking with bariatric and weight management dietitians within the UK. You will also be encouraged to represent the Department and the profession to showcase the innovative work that the Team delivers.

Flexible and agile working is supported.

You will possess a Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent, registration with the HCPC and proven experience of working within nutrition support.Your prior experience of MDT working, exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively will also be essential.

The Department is friendly and supportive and encourage CPD, including regular clinical supervision and evidence-based practice groups.
