Job summary

Due to increased investment into our service by the Oak Learning Trust, we have an exciting opportunity for a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Childrens Speech and Language Therapy Service.

You will work predominantly within schools covered by Oak Learning Trust. Three days a week will be in Columbia Grange School, Washington. This is co-educationalprimary schoolfor children with severe learning difficulties and/or autism between the ages of five to eleven years. Twodays a week you will work in two other primary schools covered by the Oak Learning Trust which are also in Washington. These are mainstream primary schools; one also has a resource-based unit for children with autism.

You will have opportunity to work with a wide range of children with different speech, language and communication needs in this role. You will be particularly keen to work with autistic children in education settings, but you will have excellent skills in assessment and therapy for children with a wide range of SCLN.

You will be part of our large needs-led STSFT Speech and Language Therapy team, which is dynamic, well-structured and you will have regular contact/support/supervision as part of the main team.

Main duties of the job

You will have significant experience of working with children with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties, and be confident in assessment and management.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be committed to working in a multi-disciplinary way to facilitate the best outcomes for children.

Our Childrens Speech and Language Therapy Team covers South Tyneside and Sunderland localities. There are excellent links across the Team with joint supervision and sharing practice sessions.
