Job summary
South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Radiographer with a PgC in Advanced Medical Imaging in GI studies (Barium Swallows) to join our team.
We currently have a Siemens Artis Zee at both South Tyneside and Sunderland sites, with the Sunderland machine due for replacement in the next 12 months.
You will undertake your own dedicated barium screening sessions and reporting of the studies within protocol. You would be supported by the Radiology team and work closely with the current Advance Practitioners team offering a wide range of examinations to both adults and paediatric patients with the opportunity to develop skill into specialist areas as required. Additional qualification in GI and/or GU examinations is desirable, and we would also like you to develop your role and expand the Team in other areas of fluoroscopy, across both sites.
This is an exciting opportunity for an Advance Practitioner to extend their role in Fluoroscopy and Barium Studies and join the Advanced Practice Team. We are a forward-thinking department, committed to Advanced Practice and the development of the Radiographer team.

Main duties of the job
You will have the required Qualification and experience to independently perform and report Barium Swallows. Preference will be given to Candidates Post-graduate training to PgCert in Advanced Medical Imaging in GI. Additional experience and qualifications in other areas of GI and/or GU examinations is desirable, but not essential and there will be the opportunity for you to develop.
The role will include being able to offer specialist advice, competently undertake imaging techniques, planning and prioritising own and departmental workload utilising specialist skills. To be a good example to and train radiographers, student radiographers and other healthcare workers and help them develop into skilled professionals.
The role requires a commitment to the multi-disciplinary team delivering a high-quality and efficient service.
You should have knowledge of, and be proficient in, the use of all equipment in all assigned areas and support the modality leads to deliver a consistently high standard of patient care and support service provision.
You are expected to participate in audit of your practice to ensure high standards and participate in training and development opportunities to support your role.
There is the opportunity for you to work in other areas/modalities within the Department depending on existing knowledge, skill and experience as service allows.
