Job summary
We are looking for a Band 7 Respiratory physiotherapist Specialist who will work within a newly created Assessment of Breathing Clinic (ABC) as part of a pilot to explore if the holistic person-centred MDT approach from PCAMS works in other patient groups. The post will also aim to explore opportunities within the current outpatient respiratory physiotherapy clinics situated across the trust managing patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions and the potential to create an MDT approach. The post is full-time, fixed term until March 2025 and will provide an opportunity to develop both your respiratory and multi-system physiotherapy experience in a highly specialist role, however other flexible working arrangements can be explored.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with proven or want to develop their clinical expertise and advanced clinical reasoning skills to excel and help provide care to the local population. It is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with GPs, Consultants, specialist nursing, care coordinators, psychology to test the concept of a holistic patient centred model in a true MDT working. It will also be an opportunity to develop your leadership and service development skills in a supportive environment.

You will be involved in developing pathways within specialist physiotherapy and this is likely to involve shared consultations and group resources.
ABC Clinic pilot
The pilot will involve working in the already established PCAMs model of care delivery with the proposal including the management of 3 subsets of patients:
ABC1- asthmatics with ongoing symptoms
ABC2 - Cor pulmonale patients who have a chronic respiratory condition (most often COPD) that leads to the right side of heart failing.
ABC 3 Patients who attend ED with breathlessness 2 or more times in preceding 6 months
Also supporting the existing PCAMS
Outpatient Respiratory Clinic
The current outpatient physiotherapy respiratory pathways require review and updating to ensure optimal care is being provided to the patients. The role of the post holder will be to work within the outpatient clinics, providing specialist respiratory physiotherapy care.
