Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated, customer / patient focused individual to join our fantastic Outpatient Appointments Service Department as an Outpatient Scheduling Assistant.

The ideal candidate will be able to work between Monday Friday. This role will challenge your skills and will allows you to progress and professionally develop in a friendly and supportive team.

You must have good administration skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills with customer service experience and be computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office.

Main duties of the job

We are responsible for scheduling outpatient services across multiple hospital and community sites in the South Tyneside and Sunderland location. We are based at Sunderland Royal Hospital.

You will enter patient referrals, arrange new and review appointments, and register patient attendance in line with Trust procedures. You will also provide contact centre and reception cover across the Outpatient Services Department.

You must have good administration skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills with customer service experience and be computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office. Experience of prioritising patients using a waiting list will be of benefit.

You will have attention to detail and the ability to prioritise incoming work, reporting to the Outpatients Scheduling Manager, as necessary.

You will play an essential role within the team, helping to maintain standards and improve the service for the benefit of patients and the clinical teams. You will be willing to adapt to change and learn new skills to deliver high quality administrative services and customer care.
