Job summary
This is a new post to work with other Occupational Health Nurse
Practitioners to continue to develop an occupational health service that
provides timely and appropriate services which aims to maximise and improve the
health and wellbeing of our employees. The post holder will act as a senior
member of the Occupational Health & Wellbeing Team providing a responsive,
effective and co-ordinated service in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary
team.
As the
Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner you will have both clinical and
managerial responsibilities. You will be
involved with management referral work, health surveillance,
vaccination campaigns and supporting the Occupational Health Advisors and
Screening Nurses with pre- employment screening. You will be involved in
clinical supervision and continuing professional development as well as support
and champion other related work programmes within South Tyneside and Sunderland
e.g. clinical governance, risk management and health and safety.
Main duties of the job
The
Occupational Health Team are part of the Occupational Health and Wellbeing
Service which includes OH Physiotherapy Service, Wellbeing Team, Moving and
Handling Team, Admin Team and is part of the Human Resources Directorate. The
Occupational Health Service is a Nurse led service of Occupational Health
Specialist Nurses, Occupational Health Advisors, Occupational Health Screening
Nurses and Health Care Assistant. The Team works across all sites within the
Trust, with the main departments being situated on South Tyneside District
Hospital and Sunderland Royal Hospital sites. The departments current opening
times 08:00-17:00 Monday to Friday.
Applicants must be Registered General Nurses with 3 years band 6
experience in Occupational Health, higher level line management and teaching
experience. The role involves both clinical and managerial responsibilities.
They will be required to work autonomously, able to prioritise workload and
demonstrate effective skills in leadership, change management and communication. The post involves working across
both South Tyneside and Sunderland sites.
