Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed, enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our Medical Education Team to undertake the role of Undergraduate Co-ordinator.

The post holder will assist with the administration and co-ordination of undergraduates (for the University of Sunderland medical school) at the Trust, support in successfully implementing and maintaining delivery of an effective medical education service to the highest quality and standards in line with the requirements of the Trust, General Medical Council, University of Sunderland medical school and Health Education England.

Main duties of the job

  • The post is full time over a 5-day week with the potential for flexible working arrangements.
  • To be a key member of the Medical Education Team with responsibility for the administration and co-ordination of undergraduates at the Trust.
  • To be the first point of contact for Medical Students for all queries relating to training, education and learning.
  • To devise and develop integrated communication programmes to support the strategic and operational initiatives of the department.
  • To receive and interpret the guidance and protocols relating to the above areas of work to ensure internal policies are in line with the Medical School guidance.
  • To provide administration support to the Undergraduate Manager to ensure continuity and consistency of the administrative arrangements for the medical students.
  • To work as an integral member of the Medical Education Team, providing cover for colleagues as and when necessary.
  • The post holder should be able to work as effectively as part of a team with both autonomous as well as delegated responsibilities.
  • Excellent organisation, administrative and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and demonstrate significant problem- solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently on own initiative.
  • Previous experience of working in a challenging administrative environment.

The post holder will fulfil a key administration role to ensure the delivery of an effective medical education service to the highest quality and standards in line with the requirements of the Trust, GMC and Health Education England. Directly providing comprehensive day-to-day support and administration to some training programmes the post holder will support the Director of Undergraduate Clinical Studies, college tutor/training programme directors in the delivery of education to specific groups of doctors and will ensure the competencies are delivered appropriately. Working and supporting the Undergraduate Manager to successfully implement, maintain and further develop the University of Sunderland MBchB curriculum within the Trust. This will include data collection and basic analysis to identify student capacity in the clinical areas.
