Job summary

A great opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to join our Fire Safety and Security Team. As part of the team you will assist in the delivery of all practical elements of the fire safety management strategy to ensure the Trust is compliant.

The post holder will form a key position within the Fire Safety Team as a Band 5 Fire Advisor and will have responsibility to assist with the day to day fire safety management across all Trust sites.

You will work alongside key stake holders to ensure the Trust meets the legal requirements placed upon it under the Fire Regulatory Reform Order.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for assisting in the day to day delivery of a comprehensive and effective fire safety service across the whole of the Trust.

To ensure there is compliance with statutory regulations for fire safety in all Trust owned properties.

Deliver ongoing fire safety training to a workforce of approx. 8500.

Assist in communicating policies and procedures and all issues associated with fire safety to management and staff.

Respond to fire alarm activations on main hospital sites to assist the Trust fire teams when available. If required during normal working hours, proceed to Trust owned properties to help deal with any fire incident reported.

Undertake comprehensive fire risk assessment in complex hospital buildings working to standards contained in Health Technical Memorandums, HTMs, Building Regulations and other relevant documentation in order to ensure buildings comply with current legislation.

Fire safety audit work.

As required provide an effective and efficient advisory service to Estates Dept, CHoICE on new and refurbished Trust building schemes.

Liaise and work with other members of the Safety Team to achieve the teams safety objectives.

  • IT literate.

  • Experience of working in Healthcare Fire Safety.
  • Registered as a fire risk assessor with a recognised accreditation body.
  • Membership of a professional organisation for example the Institution of Fire Engineers IFE, Institute of Fire Prevention Officers (IFPO).
