Job summary

We are seeking to appoint an Associate Non-Executive Director to support our Trust Board. This is an exciting opportunity to help lead the Trust and ensure that we provide the very best services for the communities we serve.

We are looking for individuals who have senior executive level experience, particularly within large and complex organisations.

We want you to share your expertise and talents and play a full part in setting the future direction of the Trust. You will have a strong commitment to our patients and to the promotion of excellent healthcare services. Experience of strategic and financial planning, leadership, risk, performance management and service delivery / innovation are essential.

To be eligible to apply you must:

  • Live within one of the areas served by the Trust (North East and Cumbria).
  • Be able to commit time to meet the demands of the role (approx. 3-5 days per month, day and early evening work is required).
  • Be able to attend board and committee meetings.

Main duties of the job

  • To contribute to the setting and achievement of strategic objectives, achievement of the Trust vision and alignment with core values.
  • To ensure the highest standards of corporate and clinical governance are maintained.
  • To constructively challenge the performance of the Trust.
  • To ensure that processes and procedures are in place to deliver high standards of professional and personal behaviours across the Trust.
  • To contribute to the delivery of the Trusts commitment to sustainability.
  • To help ensure the Trust promotes equality of opportunity in its treatment of staff and patients.
  • To participate in Committees of the Board with specific activities and delegated responsibilities to support the delivery of services as deemed appropriate.
  • To engage regularly, with the Council of Governors and ensure their views are reflected in discussion at the Board.
  • Liaise with and work collaboratively with the Council of Governors. To support the Trusts collaboration and integration with other organisations both within and outside the NHS.
  • To uphold the values of the Trust and the NHS.
  • To represent the Trust in dealing with national, regional or local bodies or individuals to ensure that the views of a wide range of stakeholders are considered and the interests of the Trust and the communities it serves is enhanced.
