Job summary

South Tyneside and Gateshead sexual heath team has an exciting opportunity for a passionate and committed Clinical Team Manager. The service operates across Palmer Community Hospital and Trinity Square with some additional outreach clinics within each borough. We are looking for a candidate who has substantial previous experience as a sexual health nurse within an integrated sexual health service and who can demonstrate outstanding clinical, communication and leadership skills. The role will involve being accountable for the overall management and development of the Sexual Health Services in South Tyneside and Gateshead, deployment and supervision of staff and ensuring the coordination of services provided, optimising the cost effective use of all resources.

We are a friendly, community based, multi-disciplinary team, committed to delivering high quality, integrated sexual health care for the local population. The post-holder must be committed to the ongoing development of sensitive, evidence based sexual health care for our service users, which includes both contraception, genitourinary medicine and partner notification services. They will be required to liaise with the clinical colleagues and partner agencies regularly to support effective running of the clinic and provide an excellent service for our patients.

Main duties of the job

To be accountable for the overall management and development of the Sexual Health Services in South Tyneside and Gateshead

Line management of the team with overall accountability and responsibility for the delivery of all aspects of patient/client care through the provision of effective clinical and managerial leadership.

To work autonomously, assessing individual patient /client needs, determining a plan of care and initiating appropriate holistic, research based health care

To act as a resource for all members of the multi-disciplinary team, providing expert nursing advice concerning aspects of patient/client management

To contribute to achieving rapid access to the Sexual Health Service in line with national guidance, contributing to the prevention of teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections

Work collaboratively with multi professional teams to ensure practice is efficient, effective, evidence based and safe.

To lead a continuously improving service, by ensuring systems are in place to support clinical governance, quality monitoring and on-going research and audit of practice

Ensure systems and processes are in place to maintain patient safety including robust management of infection control processes

Facilitate the development of clinical expertise and advanced clinical practice within the team.
