We are looking for a
motivated individual who is keen to assist in providing a fast track injection
and clinic service within the Directorate of Ophthalmology based at Sunderland
Eye Infirmary. The aim of
the unit is to provide a consultant led, nurse delivered service supported by
the medical and other allied health professional teams.
A training programme on
commencement will support the development of skills which will assist in implementing
the patient pathway.
Main duties of the job
You will work within this
busy department carrying out pre and post- operative checks for patients having
intravitreal injections on high volume lists. You will be responsible for the
safety of patients under your care whilst ensuring patients feel comfortable
and reassured during this important procedure.
You will offer postoperative
advice, administer and supply any necessary medications and with development
carry out various ophthalmic investigations.
The role also requires
coordinating clinics and supervising staff both at SEI and off site locations.
The unit
delivers via session working from Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:30 and may
include evenings and weekends as the service expands. You will be expected to
work in offsite locations such as Durham Treatment Centre and South Tyneside
Hospital on a rotational basis.
