Job summary

Are you a child and adolescent mental health practitioner looking for an exciting opportunity to make a positive difference to the mental health of children and young people? Do you have the ability to both deliver high quality interventions, and develop the skills and knowledge of universal child practitioners in child and adolescent mental health?

We are looking for a Children and Young Peoples Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services within Gateshead. We are looking for an appropriately skilled individual to join a multi-disciplinary team in the development and delivery of interventions that identify mental health difficulties at the earliest stage, and facilitate the provision of services that promote resilience, and enable positive mental health. We aim to increase the access of CAMH interventions by offering training and supervision to universal child practitioners as well as providing effective interventions directly to children, young people and their families. The service is comprised of generic and specialist primary mental health professionals providing early intervention at a targeted level, supporting professionals from other agencies and providing the link between universal services and specialist CAMHS.

This post is available to STSFT employed postgraduate certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(CAMHS) trainees, and any offer of employment will be subject to appointees successfully completing the course.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will :

Have sound knowledge and skills pertaining to CAMH. You will work autonomously as a practitioner and collaboratively with colleagues across a wide range of professions and organisations.

Provide a range of CAMHS CBT evidence based assessment and treatment interventions in line with service expectations, for children and young people and their families/carers who present with emotional and mental health difficulties.

Hold a caseload of children and young people who have moderate/severe emotional and mental health needs. This includes adhering to risk management and care planning processes in line with Trust policies, liaising with multi-agency colleagues as required.

Ensure regular attendance at service wide and other CAMHS CPD/core competency training events.

Provide CAMHS clinical interventions.

Support the development and practice of Low Intensity Psychological Therapists within the Team.

The successful applicant must have the necessary professional qualification, including current registration as outlined in the person specification i.e nursing, OT and SW or completed CYP-IAPT recognised course.
