Job summary

Intermediate Care and Rehabilitation (ICAR) is a 24 bedded rehabilitation unit in Houghton le Spring, offering medical, nursing and therapy assessment and care. The team includes: nurses, health care assistants, GP, pharmacist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, social workers and volunteers.

We provide care and therapy to people within a bed based rehabilitation environment to prevent admission to hospital and to support early discharge from hospital by providing holistic, multi-disciplinary packages of care to promote independence and self-care.

Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our multi-disciplinary team at ICAR. We are looking for a therapist who enjoys working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, who wants to deliver patient centred care and is eager to motivate and support patients on their rehabilitation journey.

There is an opportunity to lead physiotherapy input and plan a programme of care to support patient rehabilitation.

Support the development of the therapy provision.

Teaching patients, relatives and nursing staff to support the patients progress is key to this role.

There is an opportunity to link with the wider AHP services for development of self and service.

There are flexible working opportunities whilst covering patient care.
