Job summary

At University Hospitals Dorset we have a unique opportunity for you to join a dynamic and exciting pelvic health therapy workforce as an advanced practice physiotherapist.

Perinatal Pelvic Health Services (PPHS) supports NHS England's aim to improve prevention, early identification, and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction after childbirth.

Since 2021, Dorsethas been an early adopter of this initiative, with servicesat The Royal Bournemouth and Dorchester County Hospital.

We are seeking a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist to lead PPHS in line with the national specification, overseeing governance and working closely with Maternity teams.

This role leads the operational delivery of pelvic health physiotherapy service and care through the life-course of all women. Candidates should hold or be working towards the Advanced Practice digital badge, or have relevant leadership experience.

Applicants who do not hold the ACP digital badge will be encouraged to apply for the Eportfolio (supported route) to attain this within role.

This permanent role, involves working across Christchurch, Bournemouth and Poole and will be expected to visit Dorchester within their remit.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties:

To clinically lead in providing Perinatal Pelvic Health Services acrossDorsetMaternity and Neonatal Clinical System (LMNS).

Contribute to the specialist training to maternity and physiotherapy staff and have responsibility to:

Clinically lead on Perinatal Pelvic Health (PPH) Services across Physiotherapy and Maternity departments forDorsetLMNS

Maintain a specialised PPH quality screening and diagnostic service for all patients throughout their pregnancy journeyand develop the adoption ofthe validatedPPHSAQ

Have an awareness of current NHS E maternity focussed ambitions(egNHSimproving postnatal caretoolkitNHS England Improving postnatal care: a toolkit for integrated careboards, partners and providers)andengage through the system to uphold the input of the PPHS asaligned with the PPHS service specification.

Take a leading role in the advanced assessment, clinicaldiagnosisand treatment of patients with pelvic floor dysfunction, many being of a complex presentation.

Support excellent referral management,assessmentand management of physical changes during the perinataltimeframe.

Organiseappropriate onwardreferral toappropriate servicesin a timely manner.

Support maternity services in the assessment and identification of Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, to include mentoring whereappropriate.

Act as a specialist physiotherapist resource for physiotherapists andAPP'swithinDorset andbuddyother regions asrequired.
