University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery specialising in Trauma, TMJ and Facial Deformity. Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will lead the management of complex facial trauma and deformities, including TMJ joint replacement and orthognathic surgery, secondary trauma reconstructions, and post-traumatic deformity corrections. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the appointee will also engage in emergency trauma care, collaborating with other specialties to provide holistic, patient-centred treatment.This role combines clinical, academic, and leadership responsibilities, providing the opportunity to participate in teaching, training, and research. The department is fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including advanced 3D planning software and on-site 3D printing technology, supporting the delivery of cutting-edge care.The post-holder will play a key role in shaping the future of the Trauma, TMJ and Deformity service, contributing to innovative service development and ensuring the Trust's continued reputation for excellence in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

The Head and Neck ward will move from Poole to Bournemouth Hospital Site in July 2026 and the OMFS team will work cross-site from this date.
If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.
