An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic candidate to join the Information Governance team in the role of Information Governance Officer.
The Information Governance Officer will work collaboratively within the Information Governance team to support the Trust's aims and objectives in relation to compliance with key legislation such as the UK General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act, as well as the Data Security and Protection Toolkit and information risk management framework.
The successful candidate will have prior knowledge/experience of governance, risk or information management within the public sector, ideally within a health and care setting. You will have experience of responding to challenging queries using research and negotiation skills, and relaying complex information in an easily understandable manner.
We are especially looking for someone who is inquisitive, detail-oriented and able to demonstrate an ability to work proactively, without supervision and under their own initiative.

Main duties of the job
- To provide support to the Information Governance department in relation to information risk management and assurance
- To assist in ensuring compliance with the annual Data Security and Protection Toolkit submission, including taking the lead on audit requirements as delegated
- To work with key stakeholders across the Trust to ensure that the required information risk assurance work is undertaken in line with legal and regulatory requirements
- To ensure staff and stakeholders are aware of and carrying out their responsibilities under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act
- To assist patients and members of the public with exercising their rights, including processing requests for access to information
- To substantially contribute to information related information governance incident investigations
