Job summary

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, compassionate and highly motivated Healthcare Support Worker to join our friendly Women's Health Team at University Hospitals Dorset (UHD). We provide a range of gynaecological services including minor elective surgical procedures, urogynaecology and other specialist women's health clinics.

The main site for the successful candidate will be Poole Hospital.

The successful candidate may be required to work across site if the service requires support.

Please note this role will include occasional weekend working.

Please note we can not offer sponsorship for this role.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Completion of a competency-based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational level 3
  • care certificate

Desirable

  • Relevent short courses to undertake clinical care duties

Technical Skills Competencies /Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as on own initiative.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively

Desirable

  • Understanding of basic physiology e.g. normal vital signs, fluid balance, nutritional requirements etc.
  • Competent in setting up and maintaining sterile fields - be able to check sterility and handle instruments required for a procedure
  • Diathermy- Electrosurgery competent
  • Venepuncture
  • Knowledge of care and related procedures, clinical observations, relevant legislation;

Experience

Essential

  • Ability to adapt and learn in a health care environment

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working clinically within NHS environment
  • Experience of working in gynaecology
  • experience of working within outpatients
