Staff Nurse - Outpatients Assessment Centre

Job summary

We are looking for a motivated, compassionate, and enthusiastic Band 5 nurse or practitioner to join the Outpatient Assessment Centre and Minor Procedure Suite at University Hospitals Dorset (St Mary's site). This is a unique opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team providing care across a wide range of specialties, including:

Urology

Trauma & Orthopaedics

Dermatology

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS)

And other surgical/medical specialties

This role would suit someone who has experience in the theatre setting or in any of the specialities. The service is focusing on how we can deliver diagnostic care and treatment in new ways, so an enthusiasm for innovation is essential.

We're looking for a compassionate, proactive person who demonstrates strong team work skills and a commitment to continuous improvement. You'll be instrumental in building a positive team culture and ensuring the service runs safely and efficiently.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Care Delivery

Provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to patients undergoing minor procedures across multiple specialties.

Prepare patients, equipment, and procedure areas in line with infection prevention and control policies.

Assist in minor surgical and diagnostic procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout.

Monitor patients during and after procedures, recognising and responding to changes in condition.

Provide discharge information and advice in accordance with Trust policies and individual care plans.

Administer medications and treatments in line with Trust protocols and NMC guidelines.

Ensure accurate and timely documentation of nursing assessments, care provided, and post-procedure outcomes.

Assist in setting up and smooth running of clinics and support Health care support workers.
