Job summary
University Hospitals Dorset are looking for a Consultant in Gynaecology and Obstetrics with a special interest in ambulatory gynaecology. We would like you to lead on developing a regional Women's Health Hub working closely with our primary care partners and the wider MDT in transforming care for women across Dorset.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be expected to:
- Provide expertise and leadership across Obstetrics and Gynaecology services
- To work across the UHD NHS Foundation Trust estate.
- To support and develop Obstetrics and Gynaecology services across Dorset
- Undertake the investigation and treatment of obstetric and gynaecology referrals in accordance with departmental and Trust guidelines.
- Participate in the timetabled obstetric and gynaecology sessions and join the other obstetric and gynaecology consultants in maintaining and developing modern practice to a high standard.
- Oversee the care of obstetric and gynaecology patients admitted by themselves or other obstetricians/gynaecologists.
- Contribute to the on call rota and participate in the non-resident weekend consultant on call rota.
Coordinate annual and study leave arrangements with colleagues within the department to ensure an acceptable level of consultant cover.

This post will work across 2 sites for UHD, Poole and Bournemouth. Location changes in gynaecology will be in line with the Trust strategy to manage one acute and one elective sites.
If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.
