Job summary

We are looking to employ a Full Time Band 7 Pre Treatment Radiotherapy Radiographer who has significant current experience of Pre-Treatment at a Band 6 level or above.

The successful candidate will need to make evidence based decisions within the prescribed scope of practice and demonstrate analysis and approval of planning and treatment verification images, following designated training and adhering to work instructions and protocols.

They will show the ability to demonstrate knowledge of pre- treatment equipment and technology, complex techniques, and issues of patient care commensurate with the grade of the position.

The post holder needs to demonstrate evidence of developing staff by training and delegation. Together with the ability to manage, lead and motivate groups of staff effectively.

The post holder will require a thorough and detailed knowledge of principles and concepts underpinning the broad range of applications and techniques used in radiotherapy.

This role requires HCPC Registration.

Rota: Four days between Monday and Friday 07.45-17.37 with a rolling day off each week

Main duties of the job

To take responsibility of the daily management of the pre-treatment radiotherapy section and to assist in the operational management of a specialist highly complex pre-treatment radiotherapy work base and supervising the radiotherapy team.

The post-holder will support the continuity of patient flow throughout all aspects of the pre-treatment pathway from mould room to multimodality imaging and virtual simulation.

They will be working within a computerised and technologically advanced environment covering a wide range of specialist pre-treatment techniques such as contrast administration and motion management imaging, whilst facilitating the development and integration of skills and competencies available within the team.

Liaison and collaboration with medical, physics, radiology and nuclear medicine, nursing, clerical and support staff within the Trust, as well as educational partners.

To support the Head of Service in developing and advancing the service offered by the department through resource management and protocol and technique development.

  • HCPC Registration
  • MSc qualification relevant to pre-treatment. OR PGCert with Radiotherapy planning element / Imaging / leadership. OR minimum of 5 years current pre-treatment experience.

  • Cannulation Trained
  • MSc or equivalent which would support role and department
  • Leadership qualification such BTEc, or apprenticeship or attendance of internal training programme.
