Job summary

We are looking for Housekeeping Team Managers to join #TeamUHD

Our team of Housekeeping Managers work as a team to support the Housekeeping Service across the Royal Bournemouth Hospital site. This is an exciting time at RBH with our maternity services having just moved onto the site in our new BEACH building with further changes to come as we become the major emergency hospital for East Dorset.

Our Housekeeping team ensure that the hospital is kept clean providing a safe and pleasant environment to our patients, visitors and staff. Our Housekeeping Team Managers each have a specialist area they are responsible for (quality, recruitment and training, equipment and consumable, rostering and waste) and act as 'duty manager' to ensure the team are allocated to the most appropriate locations to provide a safe and effective service.

Full training for the role is provided, with specific training for the specialist area. Leadership and management courses are also available.

We are a large team and experience in managing or supervising a large team would be an advantage.

Base Location: Royal Bournemouth Hospital

Main duties of the job

Act as 'duty manager' for Housekeeping service on a rota basis ensuring cleaning resources are deployed across the hospital in the most appropriate locations

Manage a team of around 50 Housekeeping Assistants including leading team meetings and absence management

Lead a specialist area within Housekeeping (Quality, Equipment/Consumables, Recruitment and Training, HealthRoster (staffing) or Waste

Please note if the role or service is relocated as part of a planned move, employees will not be eligible for excess mileage reimbursement. Travel from the postholder's home to the new work base will be considered a normal commute. Any other changes not related to this relocation will be managed according to the relevant Trust or Nationalterms and conditions

This post is part of the Operational Estates service that UHD may transfer to an NHS 'wholly owned subsidiary'; the proposed date of transfer is October 2025.
