Job summary
- To support the operational management of the Maternity Practice Development Team in conjunction with the Practice Development Lead Midwife.
- Act as Operational lead for Preceptorship Program including Internationally EducateMidwives induction and OSCE Training Programmes and Clinical Skills training.
- To coordinate the planning, delivery, updating and evaluation of high-quality evidence-based clinical education and clinical skills training across the maternity department.
- Role model UHD Trust Values and strategic objectives in relation to education and training.
- In collaboration with senior staff both from within Care Group Directorates and the Blended Education and Training Department, coordinate, plan, deliver and evaluate evidence-based education programmes to promote high quality patient care and safety for Preceptorship Program Midwives.
- Support the Midwives with a special interest in practice development in devising development plans for individuals requiring assistance in achieving competencies or requiring additional support in the clinical area.
- Role model the delivery of safe, high-quality evidence-based patient care.
- To be part of the operational coordination team providing operational support and acting as a point of contact for the unit on a shift basis.
To escalate issues associated with clinical education and clinical skills training to the Consultant Midwife.
Main duties of the job
To support the operational management of the Maternity Clinical Education Team to deliver the Preceptorship Program for band 5 Midwives supporting the clinical education strategy under the direction of the Consultant Midwife, ensuring that this is evidence based and aligned with Trust policy and procedure, supporting the NHS England National Preceptorship Framework for Midwifery to promote high quality patient care and patient safety.
The purpose of preceptorship is to provide support, guidance and development for all newly registered practitioners to build confidence and develop further competence as they transition from student to autonomous professional.
The core purpose is to ensure our workforce is supported and skilled and in turn improves retention for newly registered midwives.
To facilitate Preceptorship Program Education Days.
To ensure that the Practice Development Team deliver a high-quality service and to line manage all preceptorship program midwives.
